Ayahuasca in Quechua means "The rope of the Spirits" by its etymology Aya = Spirit and Huasca = rope, as the worldview of the native Ayahuasca is the rope that allows the spirit leave the body without die.
The Ayahuasca has its origins among the ancient cultures of the Colombian Amazon, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Brazil, being one of the most important representations of its use in ceremonies and healing rituals since ancient times.
Shuar, ethnic group of the north of Peru and border with the Ecuador also does use of Ayahuasca, but with the name of "Natem." The preparation of the Ayahuasca varies among the indigenous groups, the population and shamans; having each its own prescriptions and different additions.
The connection between the different cultures have in common the individual use with various purposes, that go since the cure for those who have a personal or spiritual revelation, until for therapeutic approaches and of self-knowledge.
The Ayahuasca has been studied for a long time by doctors, pharmacists, psychologists and psychiatrists from all parts of the world as a tool for diverse problems, with special relevance to help people to break with the procedures and harmful habits for itself and to others.
The Ayahuasca, also, has revealed a very effective therapy in the field of the psychiatry and of the psychology in the traditional Indian method for depression treat, anxiety disorders, personality and schizophrenia, as well as, the fear or the suspicion.
In the Peru as in several parts of the world the teams of indigenous shamans, psychiatrists and psychologists has been worked in partner with the therapy of Ayahuasca, as well as, modern researchers and doctors, like Dr. Rick Strassman who has closely studied the form and the mechanisms of action of the active alkaloids of Ayahuasca and its connections with the cosmology and the religion of the native peoples of this tradition, considering the connection with the physiology of the spiritual experience caused by Ayahuasca and its assets visionary alkaloids.
As first serious and formal research done in the United States, with a scientific and professional methodology, the Ayahuasca is the sacrament of various other rituals spreaded around the world as the Santo Daime in Brazil, which was expanded by the United States and Europe with the proper use and supported by the experience of inquiry of the Brazilian and American government. The Ayahuasca, also, was called of cultural patrimony in the Australia.
The Ayahuasca combines with the 'Banisteriopsis caapi', defined as the master plant by excellence with another plant called Chacruna or Chacuruna (Psychotria viridiris), forming the drink, or "chicha", that is called of Ayahuasca. This drink acts as a physical debugger for the meditation, balancing the energy and awakening for the intuition.
